If you decide to visit Wadi Rum, in Jordan, it is important to think and plan your trip according to the different seasons. The best times to travel are usually spring and fall, when temperatures are milder.
These are therefore logically the most popular periods, thus the 1st high season extends from mid-March to mid-June with temperatures which oscillate between 25/35°C & the second from mid-September to mid-November where the daytime temperatures are more pleasant, with an average of 20/25°C, and cooler nights, with an average of 10/15°C. Those are the two best seasons to come to Wadi Rum.
Traveling in low season can be a good alternative to avoid the influx of tourists. Although the temperatures are slightly cooler during these months, averaging 10/15°C during the day, you can enjoy the natural beauty of Wadi Rum with fewer crowds.
But be careful, during the month of February thunderstorms and heavy rains can occur, water is a precious commodity here and the rain is welcomed with joy because it is a source of life for all the animals of the desert, goats, sheep and camels can thus feed at will in complete freedom and tranquility and the mountains by the runoff of the waters offer a unique spectacle, magnificent waterfalls spring from all sides, these are almost, our Niagara Falls…
And then some sites like the Khazali and Abu Khashaba canyons have the advantage of being well ventilated and due to the height of their walls and the narrowness of the 2 sections that form the canyon, you will always find a little shade. Wadi Rum desert is a mountain desert, which offers a lot of possibilities to recharge and rest especially when the temperatures rise.
On the other hand, from mid-June to mid-September, temperatures can reach up to 45°C during the day, so it is the hottest time of the year. However, do not worry, the pick-ups of the guides are equipped with shelters at the back to protect you from the sun, hair in the wind, the heat will be less heavy.
Each guide has their favorite place for lunch break, the days being longer in summer, time stands still, we sit down to chat, recharge our batteries and indulge in a well-deserved nap and for the most valiant to explore the surroundings.
