One of the most authentic and unforgettable experiences you can have once in Wadi rum, is sleeping under the stars. This is the bedouin way, far from any fixed camps, immersed in the silence of the desert and nothing is around.
We carefully choose the best spot for the night (according to the seasons), close to the mountain, where the natural rock formation provides a shelter also called “caves”. They retain the sun’s warmth, which will give you this very cosy and private place far from any camps and light pollution.
If the full moon doesn’t show up and you come at a time where there is barely any light from it. You will witness one of the most beautiful show. Wadi Rum is known for the clear visibility of the Milky Way, visible with the naked eye, as well as many constellations.
We provide all the equipment for the night : Mattresses, very hot blankets, sleeping bags, pillows. In summertime, we will provide a mosquito net tent that lets you enjoy the view of the stars while staying protected. It will be a special moment with the desert. After visiting the last site of the day, your guide will take you to the spot for the night. It will be the perfect time and place to admire the sunset as well.
In the meantime, your guide will settle the place and he will prepare the dinner cooked on the fire with care. By the time you return, everything will be ready and waiting for you! It is a moment of sharing with your guide, sitting around the fire, asking him questions and desert stories. We will also join you for dinner and we will share the meal all together.
The next morning after you leave, we make sure everything is clean and that there are no traces left behind us, to make sure we keep the desert clean and protected.
There are 2 periods that are the best to come and enjoy this experience: Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to November).
In summertime (June to August), during the day it is very hot, but at night it is the perfect temperature. It is always a bit windy and it will be the best night you will have!!
We are fully prepared for cold months too, our equipment handles winter nights well.
However, understand that you will be in the desert and in nature, so the temperature at night can drop significantly (mid/end November to February/March). Make sure to always come prepared with warm clothes and layers. If you have a water bottle, we can warm fill it with warm water for extra coziness.
Unlike our fixed Bedouin camp ( which offers private tents for the night, a shared bathroom and a big tent to spend the night, have dinner and all your meals), sleeping under the stars is true wild camping. You will go deep in the protected area of the desert, far from any other camps.
Minimalist, authentic and immersive : we provide the essential! Know that you will live the best experience of your trip.
We monitor the weather closely during the day, to plan the night ahead. We usually find solutions : a nice cave protected from the rain, or we change the plan according to you. We discuss it with you and we see what the best option is on the spot.
No, there is no fixed bathroom, it’s nature. You can come with your own toilet paper and plastic bag to put it away. Or you can burn it safely..
For showers, your guide will have a jerrican of water and can pour you some in a bottle of water, for a simple “shower” or a cleanup.
No, we provide clean, warm sleeping bags suitable for desert nights. But feel free to bring yours if you prefer.
We usually recommend bringing warm clothes, even in summertime . We never know if the wind is fresh, and being dressed under a blanket is very important to have a good night.
And do not forget your headlamp, that can be useful for the night.

Most of the time, we keep it private : your group ( from the jeep tour) will be the only one there. The only moment some could join, is if it is one person. At that moment this person could come along.
Know that we always arrange the place so each one has their space and privacy.
