Khazali Canyon

Located in Wadi Rum desert (in southern Jordan), Khazali canyon is a deep and very narrow fault about 100m long, which by its rocky walls several meters high make it one of the most popular tourist attractions.

Most famous and emblematic of the desert, in particular for its Nabataean inscriptions dating back more than 2000 years which are the testimony of the first Arabic writings,

The inscriptions include designs and symbols that represent elements of daily life of the time and are also composed of animals such as camels, horses, mountain goats (Ibix) figures and pairs of feet, as well as inscriptions Islam concerning GOD and the Prophet Mohammad.

Visitors can explore the canyon by foot, following a path that winds through the rock walls and narrow gorges. It is recommended to visit the canyon with a local guide for a safer and more informative experience.

The Khazali djebel that houses the Khazali siq is recognizable as soon as you arrive between the Visitor Center Road and Rum Village, it can be spotted in the distance, right in front of you and reveals itself like a jewel at its top.

Several Jeep tour tours include the discovery of this impressive fault whose interior walls contain a real hidden treasure of rock engravings from where you can also admire a breathtaking view of the surrounding desert.
